Welcome to the new home of Brooklyn Collective, an artisan gallery and boutique in the Columbia Street Waterfront District that exhibits and sells handcrafted jewelry, clothing, art, and housewares. For the first time since its inception six years ago, the Collective has a space all its own.
About a year ago we were sad to bring you news of the demise of Yoko Devereaux, the Williamsburg-based menswear line we cherished for a decade. Now we’re excited to tell you Yoko D is back! Gilt Groupe will exclusively distribute the downtown-meets-uptown line with a revival starting this fall. We caught up with Yoko Devereaux founder and creative maven Andy Salzer to ask about the new line.
Back when it was still supposed to be as chilly as it has been these last few days, this reporter took a trip to the studios of Shameless Photography, where owner – and we think part time magician – Sophie Spinelle gave me a full makeover for a photo session as my usually-hidden alter ego: the pin up girl.
Tucked into the fourth floor of the Armory’s edifice is The Arsenal, a multipurpose loft run by fashion designer Bob Bland, who has turned the ancient space into one her clients may customize to fit their modern creative and professional needs.
Sad news for the fashionable man. Williamsburg menswear shop Yoko Devereaux will be closing after its parent company Wing Son Garments / WS & Company became saddled with financial issues and pulled the plug.
