Homespun Summer Fun With BKLYN Yard Revival & BBQ at Emerson Backyard

By No Comments emersonbackyard
For your hungry ears and keen stomachs, head out and get some sun this Saturday with two great picks for day and nighttime fun.

Start out your day at noon over in Clinton Hill, where Paper Garden Records and Art Battles take over the Emerson Backyard (106 Emerson Place at Myrtle Avenue, pictured) for a day of art, music and BBQ eats for lunch. Hop your bike over to this spot because guess what, there's a pool! Suggested donation is $3 and doors open at noon. Here's the line up:

ESKALATORS
EMANUEL AND THE FEAR
THE HONEY DOS
NEW NUMBERS
PET GHOST PROJECT
THE CITY & HORSES
MR BRACE
THE SOUNDS THAT MACHINES MAKE

Head over to Gowanus around dinnertime when Asobi Seksu and Golden Triangle will play an outdoor show in on the grand canal at 383 President Street, across the street from and hosted by the original BKLYN Yard.

While sating your ears with the “shoegaze-y… dream pop” of Asobi Seksu and the “spooky, reverb-drenched distorto” of Golden Triangle, indulge in melodious compositions from the Greenpoint Food Market vendors who we've missed so sorely already. (See these great folks next on September 12 at the Farm City Fair, where they will team up with local chefs, brewers, and gardeners for a Brooklyn-style riff on the county fair.) Your choice of the following will be offered after doors open at 6pm.

Empanadas ¡dpm!: Empanadas “La Tradicional” with ground, grass-fed beef, hardboiled eggs, green olives, raisins, and cumin. Empanadas “La Humita” with sweet corn, red onions, mozzarella, and red pepper flakes
K-Thos: Grass-fed Korean BBQ, patbingsu with seasonal local fruit, homemade condensed milk, mocha and sesame tuile
Lei-Mo: Asian style falafel
Hermelinda Mexicana: Tostadas and Agua De Sandia (fresh watermelon juice)
Dixie Spanish: boiled peanuts, pecan pie, and other Southern delicacies.
Bao Bing: Mango sorbet, green tea ice cream, and an assortment of fresh toppings
Sandwich Friend: thefriendliest sandwiches this side of the Mason Dixon.
Suggested: Pair the reverb with the mocha and sesame tuille.
Bikes are highly suggested transport this weekend if you're on the G line, as trains will not be running between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues, replaced by a shuttle bus.  Wear a helmet and we'll see you in the sun.  For now, enjoy the video below.

Protestor at Liberty Plaza in New York
