As the detectives uncover the dead woman’s secrets, they begin to suspect a truth that could cost them more than their lives.

The well-known comic world personality and pioneering underground comix artist visits Desert Island tonight for the release party for The Compelling Art of Denis Kitchen, the long-awaited collection of his illustrations, covers, and comic strips. Charles Brownstein, the executive director of the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund (founded by Kitchen), will join the celebration to discuss the comprehensive career overview, which includes illustrations unseen since their original publication 40 years ago.

New mom and Brooklyn resident Melanie Rehak brings a wonderful addition to the category with her new book, Eating for Beginners. Rehak spent a year working in Appelwood Restaurant to understand where our good really comes from and how it's prepared, all while trying to satisfy her toddler, a very picky eater. Join Rehak tonight for a reading and discussion of some of her favorite recipes in the book.

Lowboy, an exploration of youth, sex, and violence in contemporary America, is this month's selection for Babbo's Books book club. Through the eyes of Will Heller, a 16-year-old paranoid schizophrenic, author John Wray shows us life in New York City. We follow Heller as he searches for a girl who he believes will help him solve the problems caused by climate change.

This month's author and blogger pairing at Greenlight brings you Fort Greene author Maggie Pouncey and Clinton Hill Blog founder Robin Lester. In her debut novel, Pouncey introduces us to Flora Dempsey, whose role as the executor of her professor/author father’s estate revels to her a whole new level of his literary life: fan mail (and hate mail) from readers and bloggers, and letters to his secret girlfriend. Lester will interview Pouncey about the book and the two will discuss urban "small town" life and Brooklyn's writing culture.

Reader in Residence Deanna Fei will be at Franklin Park tonight to read from her new book, A Thread of Sky, for the second annual Travels and Journeys night. She'll be joined by fellow novelist Teddy Wayne, who takes us inside the mind of Karim Issar, a self-taught programmer who is transferred from Qatar to Manhattan for three months. The authors will be joined by an acclaimed travel journalist and a performance poet who will share life-altering travel experiences across America and around the globe. Bonus: all drafts are $1 off!
