Brunching Outdoors: Robin des Bois
It’s sensory overload when you enter this popular Smith Street spot. Part '70s kitsch, part second-hand store, it looks like a dorm room gone awry with Christmas lights, collages and random plastic statues. It’s not for the dainty SATC crowd, which is what makes Robin des Bois so prime. The rustic French fare that this brasserie serves up is quite delicious.
Also known as the Sherwood Cafe, the eatery's backyard takes you away from Brooklyn's busy streets to a cozy wooded garden. A hodgepodge of decorative patio furniture sit on the dirt ground and a few leafy trees shade the area. The laid-back atmosphere is perfect to enjoy their incredible food. The croque-monsieur is cheesy and traditional, while the duck rillette with spiced prunes and cornichons strays, in a tasty way, from French cuisine. They also offer a variety of specialty egg dishes, but no matter what you order, make sure to get the brunch special: any entree with a coffee and bloody Mary or mimosa for only $13. When it comes to brunch in Brooklyn, you'll be hard pressed to find a better deal than that.
