Brunching Outdoors: DuMont

While their To-Go burger joint may be slightly more famous, the original DuMont is the place to go for a brunch when you have more than food on your agenda. The waitstaff never rushes you, enabling long-lasting, sun-soaked recaps of shenanigans from the weekend, and the backyard looks and feels ultra-welcoming, like you're brunching at your friend’s swanky garden apartment. Plus, the artful, yet comforting, food matches the atmosphere.

The filling house smoked salmon plate comes with all traditional bagel fixings plus capers and shaved red onions. Their huevo rancheros is elevated from your usual brunch dish with charred tomato salsa, black beans and avocado. Our favorite dish has to be the delicious cheesy grits that come alongside andouille sausage and two eggs. Of course, if a DuMont burger is what you're craving, the beloved sandwich is always available. We like it best with smoked Applewood bacon and danish blue cheese.

Stop in for daily brunch specials, seasonal cocktails and close proximity to the park – you'll need a place to digest.
