A few Carroll Gardens cats are causing problems for one neighborhood resident. The resident owns 10 Japanese koi swimming in a $25,000 display in his front garden, and over 100 plump Canadian pigeons that he raises in custom-crafted coops in his backyard. “It’s very frustrating. I’m always worried about the cats attacking my fish and birds,” he told the Brooklyn Paper.
Next week, Brooklyn Brewery will begin exporting to India. An Indian importing company launched by a former Williamsburg resident will sell Brooklyn Lager and East India Pale Ale at government-run liquor shops in Delhi and Mumbai starting July 10. The Wall Street Journal talked to the businessman about why he wanted Brooklyn's beer.
In other beverage news, a Brooklyn mother is suing Starbucks over scalding hot tea that burnt her infant son. Way back in October, the mom picked up her tea from the Starbucks counter and claims she dropped it because it was extremely hot, resulting in the contents spilling on her child.
The New York Post investigated Senator Carl Kruger's campaign spending. The Brooklyn Democrat dropped absurd amounts of donation money on meals at his favorite restaurants, renovations to his Avenue U office, and nights at ritzy hotels. The bills included $302 spend on iTunes, $513 for Russian language tapes, and $1,685 for 29 trips to Sammy's Noodle Shop.
After a twenty year chase, authorities convicted Smailj Tulja for the 1990 murder of a woman whose body was found dismembered and left in bags near the Brooklyn Bridge. According to the New York Times, the judge said he had no doubt that Tulja was responsible for the murder.
