Yesterday afternoon, an MTA bus smashed into a truck carry used cooking oil on Nostrand Avenue near Lincoln Road in Crown Heights. The accident sent 14 people to the hospital with injuries and left stinky oil all over the street. Crown Heights Info has pictures of the mess.

Brooklyn prosecutors are forming a special unit to fight sex trafficking in the borough. The NY Daily News reports that this week officials busted four rings with girls as young as 15 years old.

With a huge basketball arena on its way to Brooklyn, residents are extra concerned about the affect crowds will have on the surrounding neighborhood. The Atlantic Yards Report says that the main walking drag from the parking lot to the stadium will be on residential Dean Street, where the sidewalks are not wide enough to accommodate arena crowds.

Visitors to Red Hook Park can finally see the water again. Four years ago, business owner John Quadrozzi illegally built an 18-foot-tall, 200-foot-long wall that separated his property, the Gowanus Industrial Park, from the recreational area. The Brooklyn Paper caught up with happy residents and an angry Mr. Quadrozzi now that the wall is gone.

Next time you're in McCarren Park, keep one eye on the sky. The Wall Street Journal reports that two Williamsburg engineers obsessed with flight have created motorized planes from 100 percent recycled materials. The planes have a wingspan of 42 inches and can be your new favorite toy for 100 bucks.
