Summer Favorites!
It feels like summer! Finally! This week I’ve got some random birthday favorites to toast. Get some sun this weekend and enjoy this piping hot summer inspired Gay-Genda!

A seasonal no-brainer, it’s a beautiful day in Ditmas Park at the flower shop/watering hole hybrid Sycamore Bar. Newly tanned queers from all over will flock to buy a $10 bouquet/beer combo for queer night tonight. Sam, Jaffe, and Krissy host the south-side patio mayhem. Expect shorts, dorky IPOD DJs, and drink specials. A five-block walk from Cortelyou B/Q train you can hit up Vox Pop before for some coffee courage.
Celebrity Birthday: The infamous Betty Ford did better than just recover. She offered a safe haven for young starlets and roughed up leading men to get clean and sober

Date night again! The 9:15 showing of Toni (Jean Renoir, 1935) at BAM plus a nearby cocktail in Fort Greene is a terrific date night option. The wind swept Celia Montalvan steals your heart in this black and white dream come true. Sexy and dark, the film will get you sweating before you even head back outside. Take a walk post-film around the hood. Depending on what kind of night/morning you want to get into, grab a drink at No. 7 to impress or Moe’s to get drunk.
Celebrity Birthday: Sex and the City come out queen Cynthia Nixon does her job for the movement and has acting chops for miles. Yay!

Three major parties are coming together to create an evening to remember. Gay Face, Rumors and Hey Queen have hit Public Assembly, SugarLand, and East River Bar. These folks don’t kid. Gay Rumor Queen will benefit the LGBT Center and will cost you $5 at the door. DJ Amber Valentine, FUCCI, Sirlinda, Tanner, Marimacha, and Savverson will make you dance, each brining hip-hop, new age, garage, disco, and all decades of hits. Every cent goes to the center and this couldn’t be a better deal for the cover. Support this happening shindig and get your Saturday, cause it’s all yours!
Celebrity Birthday: Vintage hipster Omar Sharif stared in classics, Doctor Zhivago, Funny Girl and Lawrence of Arabia and we think he is yum!

Ladies! The Gotham Girls derby crew will be cruising Public Assembly in the Burg’ for 2010’s Derbytaunt Ball. This post battle social will celebrate yesterday’s derby winners and losers. The night will introduce new additions to teams, host surprise guests and instead of colliding in the ring they’ll be crashing into one another on the dance floor. So suit up and get down here for some not so tame derby on derby action.
