Religion or Other?

These birthdays are so important it’s spiritual. American royalty, crazies, and philosophers are this weekend’s talking points! While your sitting at the bar or dancing with a stranger make sure to let people know that there are some super important b-days to praise this weekend. You decide! Get out there and tell’em I sent’cha! Go forth!

3.12|Friday

Every other Friday at Westside Tavern the boys roll up flat-ironed or un-ironed to judge, dance, and create new stereotypes. The boys of SNAXX bring you an edition aptly called TOUCH.  DJs Rich King and Gustavo will spin for a room full of anxious dateable gays. An hour of free beer from 10-11pm will secure your party hat and your blackout. This basement party is a real monster, beware.

Celebrity Birthday: Liza Minnelli was the daughter of one of the most powerful figures in gay history. She is royalty, crazy royalty.

Drink of Choice: Scotch

3.13|Saturday

Spring has sprung, almost. The monthly queer dance party, RUMORS is back with vengeance. The gossip is that DJ Tanner and DJ Marimacha will lay down italo-disco, 80s, post-punk, new wave and dance hits. Special guests include T.Lite and VJ Data (for the uniformed that’s Tiny and Angela) who will project classic videos onto the tall gallery walls of Public Assembly.  The energy won’t stop because Lezgo will fuel this night of manic dancing, strong drinks, and springtime makeouts. Chances are you aren’t going home alone!

Celebrity Birthday: Space traveler and science fiction author L. Ron Hubbard was the mastermind behind Scientology. What an idiot. Sorry Danny Zuko and Tom.

Drink of Choice: Mars Juice

3.14|Sunday

The only thing more punishing than all this winter’s snow was its lack of drag! SugarLand is fed up! They will bring us impersonation and perfection at their Gimme A Drag party this Sunday. Some fierce ladies will be hitting the stage including Charmin Ultra, Rainblo, Keisha Aviance, and Krystal Something Something. Your hostesses Lady Electrify and Tippsy Holiday may or may not wear latex and drink too much.  Doors are at 9 and the show goes on at 11pm. It’s coverless, but remember to bring singles for these talented gals!

Celebrity Birthday: Philosopher and Physicist Albert Einstein made the modern mind. That’s all really.

Drink of Choice: A Wormhole

3.15|Monday

Perch is a bright red café on 5th Avenue in Park Slope. I’ve enjoyed a mean Cobb Salad there and the boutique style bar in the back is adorable and surprising.  They will host their first storyteller’s night this Monday.  The lineup includes knowns and unknowns, John Murdock, Tallie Medel, Stephanie Fagan, and Bob Walles. They have a really adorable space and some great drink specials. The evening starts at 8pm, so go sit, sip, and listen.

Celebrity Birthday: Phil Lesh was the famous Bassist in the Grateful Dead. Shout out to every college dorm right now!

Drink of Choice: A water, because you know you he’s parched.

3.16|Tuesday

Santos Party brings you a pretty wild night tonight. An evening of great bands and cute music folks bound to be tatted up with thick glasses and some mod bangs. Fixed, Aeroplane, Blondes, JDH and DAVE P will get down for 10 bones. Straight and queer head bangers alike will show up to jump up and down to tunes by some talented folks from all over the globe.

Celebrity Birthday: Famous Voiceover Actress Mercedes McCambridge was the voice of the little girl turned Satan’s spawn in the amazing Exorcist movies.

Drink of Choice: Holy Water
