While Austin steals some of Brooklyn’s talent, rival music festival DIY in Bushwick books all over! Tonight at Eastern District at 43 Bogart St. the talented trio Pearl and the Beard makes folk-dance-magic and Bill Bartholomew does mellow singer-songwriter while Jennings closes with more noise. The venue, set-up and neighborhood are pretty home-made so brown paper bag it and roll your own because you’ll have to make it happen all by your lonesome.

So its finally time. It’s going to pour tonight which makes the faux fireplace and near-by free pizza a sure fire hit. Filthy Fridays with DJ Speedwagon (or whomever shows up) at Metropolitan is an excellent place to cruise and even better place to get cruised. The truly mixed crowd of Met is heart-warningly spring-esque. A few hopeful hipsters will seek sanctuary from the rain in the outdoor patio while the more reasonable hit up the jukebox or pool table. As always near by Alligator Lounge does a free personal pizza with each drink and if you’re feeling a little spendy hit up Dumont just around the corner for some burgering. Good luck y’all!
Celebrity Birthday: Mariah Carey 39
Drink of Choice: Champagne with a butterfly chaser

Join authors, bookstores, and publishers of LBGT inspired works at the 2nd Annual Rainbow Book Fair at the Center for Gay and Lesbian Studies (CLAGS) at CUNY at 365 Fifth Avenue on the concourse level of the beautiful old B. Altman Building. This premier book fair for queer material is a critical part of the marriage between the written word and the queer community. With the 8,000 square feet of exhibitors a stand out children’s book Dad Dad Mom Mom’s “STORK M.I.A” will be on hand to celebrate alternatives to the usual Prince/Princess match up. Breaking the hetero-normative wall among children’s books is just one of the many reasons you should roll up to an amazing and progressive book fair! Get your read on folks!

So rock your bedhead and pull out your brunch face. Tickets range from 20-25 bucks, but its Sunday, Bloody Sunday to be exact. I want mine real spicy!
