A group show and auction featuring over one hundred international artists and their respective visual articulations of what a shoeshine box represents to them. In the gallery’s words:
“These objects, our inspiration, have all been created out of necessity- a need to earn money, or further, to survive. We push ‘the need to survive’ beyond its literal context, commissioning our favorite established and emerging artists to design their own, ’survival boxes.’”

Artist Navin June Norling’s site-specific installation combines painting, sculpture, windows, and performance art to create an unconventional, constantly changing billboard.
WILLIAMSBURG

“Vomir Des Yeux,” which translates into “puking eyeballs” marks the first U.S. show of notoriously irreverent French underground DIY artist duo Pakito Bolino and Caroline Sury, aka Le Dernier Cri. The exhibition will also include prints by Mike Diana, Matt Brinkman, Ota Keiti, Leif Goldberg, Valium, Stu Mead, ATAK, Moolinex, Julien Rictus, LEO, Pigassou, Ichiba Daisuke, Emre Orhun, Fredox, Nemoto, and Ms. Bastion, as well as many of Le Dernier Cri’s silk-screened books, posters, and animations.

70 (!) participating Brooklyn art galleries will offer visitors outstanding exhibitions and refreshments as well as a unique opportunity to learn more about Brooklyn’s expanding art scene and galleries during the second annual smART Brooklyn Gallery Hop, an initiative of Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz and Brooklyn Tourism.
The free “smART Brooklyn Gallery Hop” features bus loops that depart from select hubs every hour on the hour from 1pm–5pm and run through four different gallery districts, allowing participants to hop on and off the bus within each line’s loop.
RSVP for free transportation to galleries in Brooklyn “gallery districts,” including Red Hook, DUMBO, Gowanus, Park Slope, Crown Heights, Sunset Park, Williamsburg/Bushwick, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuyvesant, and Fort Greene.
