This Weekend’s Handpicked Gay Agenda

There are tons of things to do in Brooklyn and beyond with even more infamous folks to raise our bottles to. Your Queerspondent is here to guide you through this weekend’s handpicked gay agenda. Lets check out the line-up!
Wednesday:
The Hillbilly inspired Hugs N’ Heiffers promises a sweaty summer night of western wear full of Y’alls and Yes Sirs. Cruise the dreamy Corey TuT and his rock ballads on his way to Cherry Grove, Fire Island. Billyburg’s retro Hugs on North 6th Street is a great salon, pouring $6 Bud & whiskey drinks starting at 10. Go corral yourself a man, bubba! (If you miss Corey on Wednesday, don’t fret darling, you can catch him at the Hose on Friday.)
Celebrity to Toast: New York native baritone Rufus Wainwright is still dead sexy at 35 years old. Being an out musician is a gift! Thanks Ru!
Drink of Choice: Jack and Coke
Thursday:
Cool off beach side at the Seaside Summer Concert Series every Thursday in Coney Island. They MUST have a gay booking agent as the series includes Blondie, Pat Benatar, and Donna Summer later this August. This Thursday is no exception; Gladys Knight and The O’Jays perform starting at 7:30PM. It’s free and you can bring your own chair. There is no bar, so I absolutely DON’T recommend bringing a flask. That would be wrong. DON’T do it!
Celebrity to Toast: Our Favorite Other Woman Monica Lewinsky is 35 years young today. In my opinion, her stint as a Jenny Craig Spokeswoman was her defining achievement.
Drink of Choice: Kahlua and Baileys
Friday:
Before you go out, get your bike handled. The Keep It Clean Bike Wash at Metropolitan will get you and your trusty bike all kinds of soapy. From 4-8pm guys and girls scrub your dirty bike til’ it sparkles. Smokey D Dazzle hosts this long over due gear cleaning; expect buckets of boys and happy hour prices.
Since your all cleaned up, lets go out! It’s Friday, and that means we have tons of bankably shakable parties to hit. Today is so chalk full. I broke it down into easily understood, albeit forward, reasons to attend. You could win money, score bragging rights with a bro, eat a few wings, or jet-set to London! It’s your pick, Mate!
-MONEY-
Girls! Money! A chance to win $100! The LE Freak party at SugarLand will be awarding the best look in Brooklyn. The So Chic Competition will be judged by Violet Temper from 11pm- 2am with a chance to win money and more importantly local fame. DJ Bob Reyes and Bryan Black will be manning the decks while you work the floor. GO-GO men and women will be serving $1 shots all night. As one of my nearest gays would say, “Give them Face, Body, and NO Refund.”
-TAIL-
Jungle hosts a late night warehouse party, BIKESINTHEKITCHEN at 262 Meserole; expect all manner of hipster trash. This event isn’t exclusively queer, but there will be loads of arty types. Performances by Altaer, Abby Go Go, and The Nec plus late night spinning by DJ C.LO and Bird Flu almost guarantee you can bring home a closet case. Catch a breeder off guard in their own environment. That’s step one of bagging the inevitably bi-boys of Brooklyn swiftly out of the closet, or in this case warehouse.
-BBQ-
The Sweat Club Party at RockStar Bar on S.5th will feature two new electronic bands. ARCHITEK and Diving Sequence are new to the scene and feature adorable front men. $3 Drafts, $1 off before midnight and most importantly the outdoor BBQ sweeten the pot.
-LONDON TOWN-
The Bangerz N Mash spirited UK experience hosted by Sarah Jenny is the newest installment of the Pantyho’s Parties. Sure to have Stella on tap at Public Assembly you’ll have to bring the bad teeth, sour disposition, and $5 pounds to complete the London experience. DJ Abe Froman, the sausage king of Chicago, will spin in the Front Room.
Celebrity to Toast: Amazonian Linda Carter was Miss USA and more importantly the one only Super Woman! At the ripe old age of 57 she is still, SUPER!
Drink of Choice: Champagne, Sweet Vermouth, Glass Rimmed with Kryptonite
Saturday:
Throw down a blanket and a boy in Prospect Park – Electro Morocco are playing a high-energy show at the bandshell at 7:30PM. The park shows are shockingly free with over priced beer. The park is terrific OkayCupid date night idea. The mix is the Park Slope crowd and the youngsters of Prospect Heights. You’re near the 9th street exit, so Slope proper is but a stumble away.
Dare to double dip at Public Assembly again and attend the highly hyped PLAY IT LOUD disco party. If you want to dance. This is the place to do it,
Darshan Jerani, Doug Gomez, and Son of Sound spin disco. So cheers with the girls, hope Miranda doesn’t spoil your night with sarcasm and baby talk and dance, dance, dance the light away.
Celebrity to Toast: Happy Birthday Estelle Getty who played the brash, Sicilian mother of Dorothy (Bea Arthur) on TV’s legendary Golden Girls. Her comic timing and place in queer culture, as Sophia Petrillo, makes her singularly, my favorite.
Drink of Choice: Ambrosia Salad w/ a splash of Vodka
