The weather last weekend was a dream for rooftop gathers and BBQs and I saw many a fetching boy or two on bikes.  The summer seems to finally be setting in which of course means shorts will be shorter, shirts will be sweatier, and lets face it, boys will be generally easier. As always I have a smattering of to-dos for any gay this weekend.  So set your Tivo because, like always, there is some TV you’ll be missing this fabulous gay weekend. Let’s get to it, ladies.

Thursday:
I have been eager to mention this super cool venue for some time. The Q-Train Party at Ditmas Park’s own Flowershop/Bar Sycamore is the second Thursday of each month. The upstairs will play host to a charcuterie board of well groomed local gays, while the downstairs whiskey cellar will cater to a less gay but just as fantastic music experience.  Dark Dark Dark make a stop at the pungent establishment as part of their east coast tour, expect somber sweet tunes for a $10 cover. Drink special is bartender’s choice and the upstairs and garden are free for your enjoyment.  Since this hood is the new stomping ground of the young professional, it’s the kind of party where I expect to meet my husband.

Friday:
Now this is a first. The Galapagos Art Space is hosting their first annual Nerd Nite Gay Speed Dating event. Apparently, it’s a cycle of 3-minute chats with gay nerds and nerdettes.  The doors are at 6PM and the star-trek name-dropping begins promptly at 7PM. It’s a tall order at $25, but meeting a man who shares your love of miniature figurines and extensive antique spoon collections will not come easy. If you have your own dweep then come for the Nerd Nite party afterwards for $7. Presentations on Godzilla, Korean Pop Music, and the Harp, leave me exclaiming, “Super Duper!”

Saturday:
Commute into the city this gay weekend for the QxBxRx party at Cake Shop on the Lower East Side.  Clearly that stands for Queers, Beers and Rears.  The party is sure to be chock full of adorable tatted-up boys from all over. The queer-core gay punk scene is alive and well for $5 before midnight. Performances by SheBeast, The Diamond Sea and Fatal Erection with resident DJ’s Go-Karff and Sir Loins. Heavy petting is encouraged on the dance floor, and free drink special from 11PM until 12AM seal the deal.

Sunday:
If you broke the bank all week and are looking for an (almost) free night, I recommend hitting Alligator Lounge for a cheap bevy and free pizza. A personal pan pizza comes free with any drink purchase. Afterwards, head over to nearby Metropolitan for the low-key DiscoVery party that promises a mix of soul and pop with $2 Bud and Bud Light drafts. End the week right, with your most trusted drinking buddies, Britney and Bud.
