Celebs To Toast This Gay Weekend

Famous history-makers and hacks beware – we’re toasting your old age this weekend in and around our sunny borough at some happening happenings. Here’s your guide to the when and where. Bottoms up!
Wednesday:
A smart date night and even smarter project, STORE FRONT/The Disappearing Face of New York will be celebrating its opening at the Clic Gallery. James and Karla Murray have spent much of their time in New York taking pictures of locally owned and operated storefronts and this show is a walking tour of New York’s past and intentionally a stark look at its future. Expect a vibrant show of old school New York. The reception starts at 6pm and the show runs through August.
Celebrity to Toast: A Happy 49th Birthday toast to born-again, ex-Sports Illustrated model Kim Alexis who now resides in Wayne New Jersey – figures.
Drink of Choice: PBR with a shot of vengeful Christ
Thursday:
Tonight we start early. Head to the Lower East Side at 7PM and search the racks of The Dressing Room with featured designs by Mothe. The complimentary champagne might warm you up to that 10% off a little number to play in once you get back home to the borough around 11PM for The Sticky Party at Sugarland. DJ Lesbian Van Halen and Cha Cha spin all the hits. Hang on the rooftop patio to toast in style.
Celebrity to Toast: The famed Brooklyn born beauty Barbara Stanwyck was conceived in 1907 and would be celebrating her 102nd year as an unforgettable starlet. Bless you and your unparalleled mark on the silver screen!
Drink of Choice: Up-Martini, very dry
Friday:
I rang Park Slope’s Excelsior to inquire what, if any, theme nights they had on Fridays. Over the muffled noise of the jukebox and chatting gays, the jovial bartender yelled, “We’re just a bar, not a club or anything – Friday’s are a fun night!” I then asked about drink specials and he said gladly, “We can make you one!” That made me grin ear to ear, and I plan on taking him up on it. I’ve always had a good time at this watering hole and would like to recommend it as a sweet spot to hang this Friday. Their huge backyard and cozy booths are a breath of unpretentious air. Be sure not to miss it – it’s tucked away and the dark blinds are often drawn.
Celebrity to Toast: Famous for more than just rocking the worst hair-do since 1917, Phyllis Diller is still kicking’ at the ripe old age of 92.
Drink of Choice: Whiskey, Rocks
Saturday:
Former Greenpointian Ryan and current New Yorker Ashton are the infamous hosts of Rocket, a monthly party at The Hose. Michael Stipe and Anne Hathaway have attended this coverless gathering at the East Village bar formally known as Uncle Mings. The Hose has a mix of scene, seediness and vintage village glamour that we all crave. The bartenders are shirtless early and rock $3 well vodka and $2 dollar bud/budlight. Special Guest DeeJay Peeplay of San Francisco’s spinning collective Honeysoundsystem rock the turntables along side resident DJ Ron Like Hell. Eye-spy boys from the dark corner lounge through a curtain of thick red hoses and enjoy the laser-meets-disco visuals by Leo Herrera. This monthly is always a pleaser.
Celebrity to Toast: Former Vandella Martha Reeves has encouraged us to dance in the street and at 67, is still pulling our heartstrings with her soulful cords.
Drink of Choice: Brandy-Up, slice of lime
Sunday:
Join Enoteca every Sunday night for their cover-free residency of winecentric cinema. This evening they will be screening Stanley Kramer’s The Secret of Santa Vittoria and featuring Tuscan wines – a mellow way to end your wild weekend out.
Celebrity to Toast: Gilmore Girl’s own Jared Padalecki celebrates his 26th year as a Grade A hottie, although in my opinion he peaked in a New York Minute along side the infamous Olsen Twins.
Drink of Choice: Red Wine, Bottle
