Brooklyn Flea Opens Second Pop Up Shop

By tags: , , , ,

After a month of success at their winter pop-up market in Dumbo, Brooklyn Flea has expanded to a second storefront across the street at 76 Front Street.

Sit and Read Furniture was there hocking early American and mid-century wares. Owner Kyle Garner had managed to sell his most expensive (a gorgeous marble table) and least expensive (a pair of chairs) pieces by late afternoon, and said business was steady all day.

I grabbed a buttery croissant from Hot Blondies Bakery and perused the vintage goods. Expected in the coming weeks are silkscreeners Loyalty + Blood; jewelers Birdhouse and Bonbon Oiseau; upcyclers (new word!) Reclaimed Home; and DIY crafters Heartisans, Perch Design and Hortensia Handmade. And get psyched for spring with garden ideas from Groundworks.

The official grand opening of the additional 6,100 square feet takes place February 7-8, when Daily Candy curates a booth among 35 other DIY and vintage vendors. The shops are open from 11am-6pm until March 29. After that, it’s back to Fort Greene’s Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.
